John C. Shackelford
John Shackelford represents clients in a variety of business related transactions, particularly on behalf of real estate owners and developers as well as financial institutions and automobile dealers. Mr. Shackelford is the managing partner of the firm, which was formed in 2001. John can be found in Music Row magazine’s In Charge listing.
Mr. Shackelford represents real estate developers (including municipal housing authorities and housing finance corporations) in the land acquisition, tax credit acquisition, regulatory approval process, entity organization, financing (conventional, tax-exempt bonds, GSAs and HUD 221(d)(4) loans) and sale of tax credits of affordable housing, low income housing tax credit properties over a 20 year period, with a combined debt and equity value in excess of one billion dollars.
He also represents automobile dealership groups in the sale and acquisition of automobile dealerships throughout Texas, and in Louisiana, Ohio, California, Oregon, Mississippi and Alabama.
He is a recognized expert representing multi-family real estate developers in the re-finance of their properties, utilizing the HUD 223(f) loan program and is proficient and knowledgeable with all of HUD’s various affordable housing programs.
He also oversees the negotiation and drafting of credit facilities on behalf of several financial institutions, which credit facilities cover real estate acquisitions and re-financings, asset based collateral loans, entertainment industry loans secured by royalty income and shareholder buy-out loans.
Mr. Shackelford is a member of the Dallas Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the Florida Bar, the Tennessee State Bar and the Texas Association of Bank Counsel.

John is a big NASCAR fan, and when he is ready to cut loose, he enjoys driving 160 mph around the Texas Motor Speedway! He also is a songwriter. He loves co-writing songs with his son, two of which were in the movie Shelter Island (2003). He is also an avid golfer.
